Flexible Insulation Blankets

Removable Steam Pipe Insulation

Traditional stay-in-place thermal insulation for piping and other components is rigid, and if it’s partially or fully removed for inspections or maintenance it usually can’t be replaced. Insulation that isn’t flexible, or rigid insulation, doesn’t work for every application. There are some cases where insulation blankets, like Thermaxx Jackets, are a better solution because they can be made with alternative insulation materials that are flexible. This allows for components of irregular shape to be insulated effectively. Read more.

Chiller Insulation Blankets

Jun 22 2018

Chiller insulation blankets are becoming the standard replacement insulation for factory applied chiller insulation. The factory applies insulation to the low temperature surfaces such as the evaporator, water boxes and suction elbow. The insulation is usually ¾” thick rubber insulation with a K factor of 0.3 Btu-in./hr.-ft²-°F. If maintenance is required on any of the low temperature areas of the chiller and the insulation is affected, it must be removed… Read more!

High Temperature Insulation Materials & Applications

UVA Temperature Control Station - Before removable insulation

Everyday insulating materials are not sufficient for hot applications. Traditional materials used in insulating blankets, covers and jackets (silicone/fiberglass) start to falter when approaching 600°F. Cover materials start failing, threads start degrading, and insulation starts burning… More

GWU

George Washington University had a problem. The compressors on a large chiller unit near a residential area were extremely loud. They needed to find a solution to their noise problem to address complaints from neighbors in that residential area. After installing sound insulation developed by Thermaxx Jackets LLC, the noise was immediately reduced, providing a quick and affordable solution…More
